Come and join our team! Assistance Assistance Assistance in the administrative office in our law firm has an indispensable function. It provides the interface between our clients and our lawyers, and is responsible for the organization of the Assistant’s office. Through their know-how, our assistants ensure a smooth service for everyone involved on a daily basis. This ranges from correspondence on an international level to the coordination of deadlines and appointments, and the planning and follow-up of meetings and business trips. Business Development Business Development Our Business Development department plays an important role in the acquisition of new clients and the development of existing client relationships. It is largely responsible for the strategic further development of our law firm. Our Business Development team provides all the necessary tools to place the law firm in an optimal position as a key player. These include continuous observation of the market and implementation of suitable marketing activities, professional relationship management and development of strategic initiatives. Document Specialists Document Specialists Our specialists in this field guarantee a uniform standard in the preparation and formatting of complex documents in all MS Office applications. In doing so, they ensure the high quality standards that we use in-house and in communication with our clients. Finance Finance The specialists in our Finance team play a key role in our law office. As time went on, I gained more and more information about the work of the “major law firms” and their relevance to the economy. Fortunately, in 2018, I was given the chance to work at Freshfields and happily accepted. Since then, I have been working in the Dispute Resolution or Conflict Resolution department as a Personal Assistant. My job is to support and relieve our team of lawyers of all administrative and organizational tasks, so that they can concentrate entirely on their clients. I am extremely satisfied with my decision to work here, but I already knew that this would be the case before I started, as it is one of the few law firms to offer its applicants the opportunity of a taster day. This gave me the chance to get to know my team and the tasks at hand and, of course, it gave me a better basis for making my decision. My job includes the coordination and organization of appointments, meetings and business trips. I’m also responsible for preparing documents/contracts as well as PowerPoint presentations, Excel overviews etc. However, my biggest area of responsibility is managing the invoice portfolios of both partners. I support the team in organizing new cases, monitoring the figures and invoicing. These tasks can often be very complex as I need to be aware of all the contracts, agreements and case procedures. Logical thinking and a lot of number crunching is all part of this. Due to the international nature of the company, English correspondence and telephone calls with colleagues and clients in many different countries are part of my daily routine and make my work interesting every day. I started at Freshfields in the summer of 2000. At the time, I was looking for a job in the late shift because my children were still small and this meant that I couldn’t go to work during the day. A recommendation drew my attention to Freshfields and the possibility of joining the Assistant’s office in the evening. I did this for five years in all. In 2005, I switched to daytime business and to my current team. The fact that I have worked closely with both partners for so many years shows that I am very satisfied both in this team and with my work. Our collaborative effort has always been based on mutual trust. What I value most about my team is that I am able and allowed to work independently and that my achievements are always appreciated and acknowledged. Our office also does a lot for the employees in Business Services in general. I myself have already taken part in some very interesting and instructive seminars for personal development and also in in-house English courses. I also joined our Manchester office in England in spring 2019 as part of an exchange programme. This was an exciting mini-secondment that allowed me to get to know colleagues and their work in another office and also to improve my English skills. Prior to joining Freshfields, I had no idea what a law firm did in the way of marketing. At the start, I was mainly involved in creating brochures for clients in Germany and Austria. As I was the first employee in a marketing department in the German speaking region, I first had to make sure that the function of our brand was understood and that our corporate identity was used correctly. Even today, this is still a vital part of my work. It involves advising lawyers and colleagues in the Business Services, Events, Knowledge Management, Recruitment or Office Management departments, about how brochures, advertisements, letters, presentations and give-aways can be created using the Freshfields brand. Since the Freshfields brand is constantly developing, this is an incredibly exciting area that never gets boring. In the meantime, most of our products are created online, and I have had to constantly expand my knowledge of the creation of digital content. Gaining additional knowledge is greatly encouraged at Freshfields and means that the range of in-house further training possibilities is enormous. The reason why I have stayed at Freshfields for such a long time is above all, thanks to the great teamwork with people from different departments. In addition to London and Manchester, I am in regular contact with our offices in Europe, including Moscow. Each office functions in a slightly different way and it is always fun to rise new challenges. Working with my international colleagues from the Marketing department is very enriching because we all have slightly different backgrounds. In any case, I’m looking forward to the future, and looking forward to the projects that come up in the Marketing department and which, as a team, we will handle for the company. After studying Economics, a recruitment agency drew my attention to the company. The application process was great and very fast. I received positive feedback the very next day after my interview. When I started the job, I was very well received and quickly introduced to my work. I am very grateful to my fantastic team and for the fact that my tasks are varied and challenging. In my “Global Transactions” practice group, I work with a US partner and two associates.
